When batch renaming photos on Android gets messy

Preview first, preserve originals
- Previewing filenames before renaming creates no destination files
- Original photos are not renamed, moved, deleted, or overwritten
- Source extensions are preserved truthfully
- Destination conflicts block the batch
- FastWebTools does not silently overwrite existing files and does not auto-suffix conflicts
- Durable export uses the Android system folder picker (Storage Access Framework)
- Storage providers may enforce their own filename limitations; exact names are verified after creation
Simple Mode and Advanced Mode
Simple Mode covers everyday sequential naming with base text, an optional separator, a starting number, and padding.
Advanced Mode uses the same underlying rule model with ordered visual blocks: fixed text, separators, counters, and original filename stems. You can add, edit, move, and remove blocks while the live preview updates.
This page does not claim date blocks, EXIF metadata, CSV fields, regex, conditional logic, or saved rule templates.

Use a Counter block with a starting number, step, and padding. Combined with fixed text or an original filename stem, the rule can produce names such as Product_001.jpg and Product_002.png.
Can I preview filenames before renaming the files?
Yes. Batch preview evaluates the rule against the selected images and shows the planned filenames. Preview does not write destination files.
Does FastWebTools change or delete my original photos?
No. Smart Batch Rename creates renamed copies. Originals are not renamed, moved, deleted, or overwritten by the export flow.
Can I rename JPG, PNG, and WebP files in the same batch?
Yes for the currently supported image types: JPEG/JPG, PNG, and WebP. Source extensions stay truthful on each planned output name.
What happens if a filename already exists in the destination folder?
A destination conflict blocks the durable export. FastWebTools does not silently overwrite existing files and does not auto-suffix conflicting names.

Can a storage provider change a requested filename?
Some Android storage providers have their own filename limitations. FastWebTools verifies exact names after creation and rejects provider renames rather than accepting a silently altered name.
